Initial Evaluation
Service Description
An overall evaluation in speech therapy is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a speech-language pathologist (SLP) to determine a person's communication strengths and challenges. This evaluation typically includes a combination of standardized tests, informal observations, caregiver or client interviews, and review of medical and developmental history. The SLP assesses areas such as articulation, expressive and receptive language, pragmatic (social) language, fluency, and feeding/swallowing, depending on the individual's needs and concerns. The purpose of the evaluation is to identify any speech, language, or communication disorders, determine their severity, and develop appropriate therapy goals and recommendations. The results guide the creation of a personalized treatment plan aimed at improving communication and overall quality of life.
