Fluency

Scottsdale / Phoenix / Virtual

Service Description

Fluency refers to the smoothness, flow, and ease of speech. A fluency disorder, such as stuttering, involves disruptions in the natural rhythm of speaking, including repetitions of sounds or words, prolongations, or blocks where the speaker is unable to produce a sound. These interruptions can affect a person’s confidence and ability to communicate effectively. Fluency therapy focuses on helping individuals manage these disruptions by teaching strategies to improve speech flow, reduce tension, and build confidence in communication. Speech-language pathologists tailor therapy to the individual's needs, often incorporating breathing techniques, pacing strategies, and counseling support. Fluency therapy is beneficial for both children and adults who experience stuttering or other fluency challenges.
